 I saw the challenge and i've waited for rain to come in my region. Luckly , it happened. I took out my camera and tried to do something for the challenge. Did i menage to do that?
I raise the contrast,i changed the shadow/highlight a little and i modified the colour tone

I like the due tone effect. I felt a bit more depth would be better for this picture. Lack of depth is distracting the foreground.

A quite pleasing old school image - with some impact, although perhaps the DOF could have been even more extreme for real effect.
