This is a photo of a water fountain that I have at home. It spins a glass ball on top with water pressure, and has colored LEDs that light up the ball. The rest of the stand is lit by a 100 Watt desk lamp. I've submitted a photo of it before, and tried to change it up a bit, and heed the advice of some of the comments from the last time. Unfortunately, I did it will little time left before the challenge deadline, so it is still cropped pretty tight on the left side. Oh well.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Composition:

I really like your composition here, the lines leading you to the blue glass at the top really helps this shot. The fountain works well against your choice of black background.

Technicals:

Firstly I would say this is more a close up than a macro and could be a reason why you didn't receive a better score. I like the light you have used and the capture of movement within the glass is nice.

My personal thought:

The challenge description said the subject should not easily be identificable at first glance. The thing I struggle with with this shot is had I not read your description I would still not know what I was looking at and I think maybe voters were looking to at least be able to make out the subject after one or two glances.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.
