This is an awning over a walkway across the CNN parking lot in Atlanta, GA, USA. I went with B&W because the colors of the cars were distracting. I used the channel mixer in particular to change one bright red car black. Unlike my geometry entry, after converting to B&W, this time I remembered to use curves to enhance the contrast.

The trickiest thing was getting the contrast up while not making the curves in the awning into total jaggies. They're still a little jagged, and I expect some folks will comment on that.

That's also why I couldn't sharpen it anymore - the jaggies really pop out. That's the down side of how I used USM to make the stars pop in my shot Starry, Starry Night.

Wow, Jeffrey! I think this is a very strong photo! I was on vacation so I totally missed this challenge, but I would have rated it very high. I just love the geometric, abstract look to it :)

The overhang and shadow lead you right down that path. I think this is a great use of B&W.

Meets my interperatation of the challange well. I like how you can follow that center pole all the way down.
