This could be a very deep and emotive piece with a bit better lighting. I think if you had set some lighting off to the left side of the model, the shadows would help.

I think the editing on this works pretty well, as does the expression.

I do find myself drawn more to the door than the person for some reason. I think that it may be sharper or more in focus, or maybe it just interests my eye more.

This is a good photo and I think a bit of shadows would have thrown this over the top.

Love the colors of this. Great facial expression, too. I think I would have cloned out the gate handle as it distracts a bit.

Interesting... play with the lighting a bit to add shadows in a way that amplifies the expression on the subject and desired feeling.

the door handle is nearly lost in this, and yet, I find it to be the most interesting element. I wonder if a bit of dodge work could bring it out a bit more.
