aimee I love ya girl ;-) the shot is not cropped at all. not a great deal of PP. I'll have to redo it with your suggestions. Making my images "pop" is one thing I REALLY need to improve on. Also, I don't know WHY I do better at animal shots...guess it's cause I love em?shrugs.
This shot was taken from a moving trolly attached to a trailer, hand-held 100/400. I LOVED the steer and the shelter provided by the tree. |

Hey! I remember voting on this one. I voted 6 BTW. This pic is beautifully composed! Personally I think it would have scored better had it been edited a bit differently. If you care for details read on -possible centering the tree truck by cropping slightly differently (if your pic allowed for this). I think burning & dodging and selective saturation in the tree leaves and on the steer (?) would have made this shot really pop and gained you several tenths (at least). A little sharpening & neat image might have worked too. I might have even checked with SC to see if cloning out the two sticks to the right of the tree trunk would be OK too as they are a little distracting. Once again you demonstrate great eye for composing animal shots.
Sorry - I think I might have been having a Critique Club moment here! |

Nice exposure in a difficult situation with all that light colored grass behind the tree. I wonder if the shot had been taken more at eye level with the longhorn would have allowed more of the tree to be included? Maybe a silhouette shot? 4 |

Very cool color tones and composition. I wish the steer was emphasized a little more he seems to get lost a little in the shadow, and I think he's very important to this photo. |

Our appreciation for trees comes from their sheltering shade. Your image captures and shows that reason very well. Nice work. |
