Taken with polarizer filter.
Wanted to get a good contrast between the blacks and whites, not sure if this is too dark but I'm going with it anyway...
Channel mixer, levels, burn & dodge, sharpened.

Camera date DQ, I’m gutted!!!
Always check your camera date!
This was my entry for the 'Single Tree' challenge. It has been DQ'd as the Camera year was set to 2005 (month and day where ok but that means nothing). What really hurts is that is my best scoring so far at 6.5 and that I had submitted the original as I was going away before the challenge end date and so didn't want to risk the slim chance the SC may asked for a validation and I wouldn't be here to upload it...
Do it now and then everything will be ok I thought...
Nooooooo, stupid mistake. The lesson here is very simple I guess, make sure you know the camera date is set.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments that will of course be on my DQ'd image after the challenge has ended.

Nice shadows. Good choice for BW processing. Like the composition and the subject itself offers a lot of interesting shapes to move the eye around. Good work and good luck. |

Good use of B&W. Good tone and texture but I would like to see the shadows opened up some more. |

nice idea here. just read an article on how to add "punch" or pop to black and white images..but dang if I could tell ya how to do that. I do know you can add some to this photo and have a really really nice shot...check with one of the PP guru's on the site? overall I give this a 7 due to concept and light from right...gl in challenge :-) 7 |

Great perspective and so well done in b&w. When I think of "a single tree", I'm mostly picturing subjects/comps like this. A clean, classic, minimalistic piece. Well done. |

Fantastic B&W image. The contrasty feel is really great. The high contrast just goes great with the scraggly, jaggy shape of the tree, which looks like a bolt of lightning. |
