 There's been a plethora of dragonfly pictures in challenges lately, but as I've done well with them in the past, this is another!
Sempetrum pedemontanum elatum (well, possibly elatum)
He's one of the less common kinds around here, and I saw him by the creek as I was riding the bike home on Saturday afternoon. At first, he didn't want his picture taken, but I eventually got close enough to him.
Taken as jpg - and I didn't realise my camera was set to 400 ISO... Fast shutter speed because of the breeze blowing, waving the grass about.

Post-Challenge: Wow, I got 5th. It was very close to being my top score ever, though. Now, if you check my top three rated phots, you'll see a particular theme... If there was a challenge on dragonflies, I'd come in the middle of the pack, though.

Nice angle!I like the colours on this specimen and how you have captured the overall detail of the dragonfly.Pity about the slight noise in the bokeh.Good shot nonetheless!

wonderful macro! great sharpness and colours. about the composition I think that the dragonfly start on the thirth lower point but it is too in the middle. even i think that there is a small problem i rate 10 because I like it :)
