3 separate curve adjustments, aiming at strengthening the hi-lited sections without over-strengthening the midtone ones
hue-desaturation to reduce the red
channelmixer-blue channel monochrome + constant increase
neat image on new layer at 50% opacity
levels - mid increase
sharpen edges

This is a beautiful photo, but I wrestle with it meeting the rule of thirds. As a whole, the man pretty much takes up the whole center of the picture--but you could argue that his face and his cane are the photo's subjects and they are definitely in the thirds of the photograph. Hmmm....I'll think on it.

A very interesting fellow, lots of character. Some good lighting on parts of his face, but the eyes and specs disappear in the shadow from the hat.

Based on the post-processing I think I know who took this shot. ;^) Had any "doll" images recently?

(Oops! Wasn't you. Sorry )

Anyway, I like the subject and the composition. Certainly met the challenge quite well. The tonal range is great. Not too fond of the aggressive noise reduction however.

Super high contrast mystery, makes us wonder about him. One of the better rule of thirds shots too.
