This is a "writing spider." Actually, I have no idea what kind it is, but that is what we call them because of the way they "write" in their webs. My grandmother used to tell that she had one outside her kitchen window. It was around the time Eisenhower was running for president, adn she claimed that the spider wrote "IKE" in the web. Who knows?

Any way. Posed a particular challenge because i didn't want to get too close and upset the web, but the sun was backlighting it. S/he wouldn't move no matter what I promised.

Interesting composition and viewpoint. Wouldn't hurt it to be a bit lighter, though. Perhaps a bit of fill-in flash?

This photo has a good WOW factor because of the close proximity to the spider!
The thick black border isn't really necessary, though I still give it a 9!

The darker color of the spider really makes it pop out of the picture. The green of the background really helps with this. Pretty good details in the spider. You can see all the individual hairs. Don't really like the frame too much. It blends in too much with the black of the spider.
