Definatley my kind of portrait, there's a story to be told in that face and it's the viewers job to find what that story is. Great image. |

what i like, is you resisted the urge (at least I am always fighting this), to mess with the eyes. I actually really love the hat. That's my favorite part. And the crop of course. |

What awesome texture to this shot! It has a gritty feeling to it that works perfectly. The texture of his hat enhances the rough feeling of this whole image. Great job! :D |

Great capture. One can almost see him sitting in some smoke filled tavern, spinning yarns about days of yore.
I truly like this image and you have done well in capturing the history exhibited in the facial lines of this subject.
Good luck to you in the challenge. |

Composition: 8 - Tad too much space at the top imo, but otherwise, great.
Technical: 7 - The muted colours work really well, and the photo shows a lot of emotion, however I think it looks a bit oversharpened. Also, the shadows under the cap seem like a washed-out grey, as if you've dodged them a lot in PS. Adding a little more contrast just around the eyes would sort out that problem.
Creativity: 7 - A unique portrait since it shows so much character.
Appeal: 7 - The fine details give this photo its appeal.
Overall Calculated Average Score: 7 |

Oh my! It is those arresting eyes and the lines on the face that just expresses volumes on the life of a fisherman. Gazing upon this portrait, I look upon the chiseled features that speak of life out at sea and I see a man/a captain who has sailed out on the fickle & sometimes harsh waters and returned. Wonderful capture, I sit here and I can almost think I can turn the page to read the National Geographic story that goes with this picture:-) |
