This was laying silently on the jetty at Long Island, just waiting for me to photograph it. I love the texture of the old timber jetty, and also the shadow effect from the rope.

Taken in the about three in the afternoon, re the shadow in the image.

Just did the normal processing as follows;

Shadows and highlights, sharpened, and then added a small amount of color, not much re the tones in the white rope. Color Balance, again only twicked a little and also curves.
I then used noise, and then added border, resized, and saved to web.

The long shadows is just one of the captivating feelings for this shot. The texture of the rope and wood are perfect! The colors and lighting couldn't be any better...

Cool shot. I like the texture of the old worn wood with the winding of the rope. I also like how you framed the shot so that the rope leads your eye from the bottom left to the top right. Very nice capture.

Nicely seen, Shez. I like the textures of the rope and the jetty boards - makes for a very pleasing image! I like the shape of the shadow as well.

I like the way the light is reflecting back off of the rope and on to itself again giving it a slight IR effect on the one side and the rich and sharp textures of the wood.This would have been a good entry for the rope challenge.

Yes, I thought the same, but I also had a triffic image for "Soft Focus" so was happy to enter that one.
I also love the clarity of the rope, and couldn't believe my luck, as the rope was just lying there, waiting for someone to photograph it, and everyone looked at me in a funny way, when I got the camera out, and started taking images of the rope. I think they all thought I was nuts.

Would have been a great entry to the Rope challenge - had it been posted that week. Amazing clarity!
