 Photographer’s Notes
• The view from my house on the lake is west toward the Olympic Mountains. Last evening, we had one of the most beautiful sunsets I can recall. So I took several dozen shots as the sun went down. I was thinking about an entry for the August Free Study.
• As it turns out, I shot another entry for the free study earlier today, so I’m going to try to shoehorn this one into magic. Maybe it will appeal to voters as a magical sunset. lol
• Shame on me if it bombs as dnmc.

Critique Club Review:

Excellent sunset picture. Great saturation, almost looks like Kodachrome. There is nothing here really to improve upon. I think you already hit upon the only problem. You tried to squeeze it into a challenge on Magic & Mystery. You didn't do so bad 30 out of 127. (Top third of the class.) But you would have done much better with in in a challenge where it fit closer to the theme. Not that there is no magic in a sunset, but the voters are a picky lot.

Thats is really cool. I love the beams of light coming from the sun, even though you can't see the sun. A good mix of colors too, going from orange to blue/purple

Very pretty sunset...a nice photo for sure...but I think you are stretching to fit a good photo in a challenge where it doesn't fit.

Like the other sunset shots, I think they're pretty without really evoking magic for me. This one's more dramatic than the others, though. 5.

Great captured sunset/sunrise. Mildly DNMC, but not a biggie. Perhaps a tiny bit more sharpening on the upper clouds (but I love a sharp image). 6
