You've probably heard this a million times now, but I wanted to let you know why the low vote from me. I think you missed the part in the description of the challenge that says "use your camera to take a picture of itself". Beyond that, I like the image, but nothing seems to be in sharp focus.

for a self-portrait this would be a nice shot, but as it was supposed to be of the camera itself, it does not meet the challenge

Great portrait, but perhaps a little more focus on the eyes might help. Unfortunately, I don't see a camera to fit this into the "camera" self portrait challenge.

I believe the notion of this challenge was to use your camera to take a picture of itself. This doesn't match the notion IMO. DNMC.

That being said, it is a very very good portrait which I like quite a lot. The lighting is superb. It seems to reveal the character of the subject very well.

Where is the camera? I am sure you have heard by now that this was supposed to be a picture of your camera and not yourself. This is definately a nice photo if it was supposed to be a self portrait of your self.

Fine portrait with the light and dark shades in the back, opposite of the lighting on the face.... BUT the picture is supposed to be a "self-portrait" of your camera.

The challenge breif:

Our cameras are essential to our work, but they never get star billing; they are always working behind the scenes. It's time they got their moment in the limelight. Your challenge; use your camera to take a picture of itself.

Unless you are a camera model I don't know about, I think you missed the point...sorry :-(

Oops, I think you misunderstood - a self portrait of your camera. :) As for this shot, it's not quite in focus.
