The smoke gets lost in the clouds here, without the title, I wouldnt understand.

Great photo. I wish I could see more of the fire though.

unfortunately there is no fire -
smoke usually means fire but not always

I know where there's smoke, there's fire, but I'd like to see some of it in this challenge

No fire, just smoke. I know, I know. Where there's smoke, there's fire. But, call me a fundamentalist, I expect to see flames in this challenge. Other than that, the pic is really nice, with the tree providing a natural framing that could almost stand on its own without any other subject.
Note: didn't vote you down for DNMC... I guess it half meets the challenge, so...

love the subtlety. I for one appreciate a break from all the big bright flames. 7

I really like this composition! Very nice! More fire would be better, but still - a really good photo!

the suggestion of fire is there, but some smoke in the distance just doesn't go far enough to meeting the challenge description. The lens flare above the tree takes center stage. The smoke is an afterthought.

heh, I saw a fire under similar circumstances, but I didn't have a cool tree t frame it with. Any chance this was taken around Reno?

A truely beautiful shot, but the fire just isn't prominent enough to tie it in tight with the challenge, IMO.
