Metal heart heated until it glowed then the flame was kept on the top of the heart for the photo.

The photo was taken in raw and the contrast was changed to lesson the amount of background that was showing. Then a few dust spots were cloned out and the photo was run through neat image then back to PS to frame it and resize it. The color was left pretty much alone the metal was really that hot, the metal was heated using an acetalene welding torch and was sitting on a metal plate. The round area you see above the heart was caused by the burning off of some soot that I put on the metal with the torch and it burned off as I was heating the heart which was an effect I really did not want but it may have worked anyway. There are a couple of other shots that are pretty neat but did not have a flame so I picked this one to use.

Post voting: Thanks for the comments, I agree with everyones assessments. I looked at the image before I started editing and it was sharper... go figure. As far as the flame being blown out I was using a torch and did not have enough sense or hands to turn the oxigen down to get a yellow flame and the light from the torch was just to much, I will try to keep that in mind for next time but I am getting older and the mind does not work like it used to....

Nice idea and I like the composition, only thing that distracts me is the blown out bit (flame?) at the top of the heart (MHO)

I like the way the flame surrounds the top of the heart

I'm a sucker for hearts. I like how you captured "fire" in a non-flame form. I love how the top edge of the top of the heart blends into the light while the bottom edge of that part is distinct. I love the color of the heart and the circle and how they go together so well.

This would be fantastic with more clarity on the heart.

Super. Could be a tad sharper and the flame not quite so blown but very nice take. 7
