 Shot at Sant Monica Pier on Sunday.

As soon as I got home I tried cropping most of the clutter out of the image. But every time the image seemed to lose its impact. That's when I realized that the diagonal lines from the buildings give the image its direction. At least that's how I see it. So this is the original frame, with levels, colors, USM, size for web in Nikon Capture Editor, then resaved at a higher compression setting in Dell Photo Studio.

I expect it will do better than my last shot. ahem.

It's a nice, clear shot, and it meets the challenge, but there's something off-putting about all that darkness in a picture of something that's supposed to be fun. The title implies that the darkness is not there to make an ironic point.

Good idea, an amusement park is full of opportunity. I like the golden yellow of the coaster, only complaint is the dark wall on the right, wish that could be cropped out.
