Trading post...
I didn't vote in this challenge but would have voted this high. I think you got robbed in terms of score, but I seem to think that voters are just outright nasty anymore. I think this is a beautiful shot and looks very much like a painting. Excellent job with the capture! |

The severe crop does give it a painting type effect but it feels pixelated (of course). I am not sure if film grain or the grain effect is legal in basic but maybe adding a bit of that would soften the pixelated look and enhance the painting type feel. Could be a good coverup tool. I think the one votes were unnecessary. |

Wow - this looks like a watercolor! I like it a lot, though I suspect it got voted low because of it. Never matter that, it's a great shot (in my humble opinion, of course) and I suspect it would make a great print. I like that the yellow isn't too yellow and I like the boat in the background to add depth. The colors work very well. Really nifty the way this came out! (And I noticed that at this time you have over 1100 views on your Zen entry - that's pretty nifty, too!)
Heh - just now reading your comment - so it's not just me who thought it very much like a painting. And yes, it does look like she really knows what she's doing. |

This photo came from a much larger shot. When I cropped it severely to limit the photo to this surfer I ended up with a lot of noise. I wasn't planning on submitting it because I knew DPC voters wouldn't like the noise, but I reconsidered because the image looked alot like an oil or water color painting to me and I liked the effect. Her command of the wave was impressive and the background boat added another "transportation" example. So I got what I thought I would receive in terms of score (actually I scored a little higher than I expected) but the image appealed so I used it.

this feels very, very much like a painting, but it the style suits the subject matter, and it adds a greater degree of interest. composition and colours are a treat, and the boat in the background adds to rather than detracts from the shot. i'm deeply impressed at the moment you caught this; her posture is so dynamic, and the way she's riding the wave is actually arty itself. 10. |

Could be great but the contrast is so low that it's seems washed out or foggy. Try levels or Curves. |

Very good composition and colour though the quality gives it a disadvantage. have you given it an effect or zoomed it? I actually like the painted in effect but DPCers don't or do they? The final results can only tell. |

imo being able to see the pixels detracts from the picture. |
