Okay, so i looked at this for quite a long time, trying to find a word that describs it for *me*... but it's so full of so many emotions i can't find *my* word. It's so many things, and seems so natural in a fixed sence... that didn't even make sence, but Oh well! I think some of the best photos in the world make you feel this way about their intentions and meanings, and well, if i could find *my* word, well.... woulda saved me alot of typing ;-) |

One of the best, if not the best portraits in the entire challenge. Added bonus was looking up the word "asperous" and discovering that this portrait *is* the definition. Something that appeals to me about this is that it's not taken from the usual straight-on angle, but rather a bit from underneath. He's got loads of character and the image processing luckily also has loads of character. Great job! |

hhmmmmm. not sure about this. great sharpness thats for sure. but i'd like some background instead of the white to give me more of a sense of who this man is. ya know? |

Good definition and colours here, but why the strong white background? I'd have thought this would have been more of a low-key, moody shot. |

the guys face is really rich in character, and i love the sharpness of detail... i think a slightly greater depth of field might be preferred; the almost immediate change to a soft focus round the back of his head and ears seems on the aggressive side. the white background adds nothing, nor gives the picture any sense of context really. and the only other negative thing for me is the composition, which just doesn't sit right - maybe it's because it feels like a (really excellent) passport photo, my pre-conceived subliminal expectations is that a head on shot like this should be centred? maybe cropping a bit from the top and bottom so it's squarer might help??? like i said though, this is a great shot, with lot's of personality and does grab attention. his eyes - so much depth there... 9. |
