I don't know if it's your highest score to date (I didn't check) but it's definitely my favorite shot of yours so far. I think this is well done. The composition is the strongest element of this shot and it's excellent, the colors are sharp and crisp. Others have pointed out the "harsh" light on the front of the saddle. If you put a sheet in front of the light (but not too close - don't wanna start fires in barns) it can diffuse the light a bit. If you're using a tripod and a release, you have the luxury of longer exposures to handle lower light levels when you do diffuse the light source. Nice work!
Edit to add that I like the basketball shot, too.

Very well done. Almost a blown out highlight on the front. But, you're lighting is good the colors are rich and warm.
Good DOF.

I scored this a 5. It's an okay photo. Not in the 1-3 range, as you say, but not spectacular. As someone else mentioned, the lighting is a little harsh. There's a fair bit of glare in the saddle, and something about it looks a lot like a snapshot flash. DPC likes things to be super crisp and clear, and there's no crisp clear line here. And there's a lot of visible image noise. I would try a softer background, say a warm chocolate brown, indirect diffuse lighting. |

I am so glad that I am not seeing all standard planes, trains, and automobiles. Wonderful picture and idea. The rope really brings out the colors in the saddle. |
