I struggled mightily to come up with something for this challenge. My initial thought was to have two black rocks on a white background, cropped to something like 640 x 200.

But I didn't have time to find good rocks.

Then I thought I'd submit a pattern of white balls, but it took up too much of the scene.

Finally, I noticed this toy sticky frog on my daughter's bookshelf, and thought I'd try it against a green piece of posterboard.

Bingo.

Still not thrilled with it, but I hope it'll do decently.

I wish the frog were further into the photo and not so close to the edge, but I really liked this, gave it a 7

This would be cooler if the frog looked real. I'm assuming it's not since it looks like a toy. I apologize if i'm wrong, but I think that takes alot away from it.

Not feeling the zen in this, it's like a leftover of color on color. Anyway, it just doesn't create an sense of zen for me.

This is a great idea and has worked really well, position of the 'frog' in the frame works really well. 8

I like it , but I think the frog would have looked better if he was a darker green than the background.

Nice abstract, nice minimalist shot, nice color on color. Nice zen? It's not doing it for me. I don't get any sense of balance or harmony (one color dominates, balance destroyed by the only object being in the bottom corner) and the frog is a bit freaky looking for me to get a sense of serenity from this. I get what you were going for here, I just don't think you nailed it. Outside of the challenge, I think this is a fine photo. 4.

A nice simple composition that has a calmness to it with how the frog nearly melts into the background. I like the large negative space given and the color is very vibrant. I wish the lighting were a bit brighter on the frog to give it just a smidge more oomph. The focus looks okay but a bit soft on the backend of the frog. Over all I think its a good Zen representation. I gave a 6
