I love the soft focus and thank you for telling me how to obtain it. I've tried a few things, but never thought of... pantyhose!
For this challenge, I think it has the perfect calm, dreamlike balance.

I like the muted colours and composition. Overall, slightly too much blur for my taste. |

Okay the blur effect (whether from the post prosseing or too much coffee) is WAY WAY WAY overdone, without it I imagine the picture would be decent |

4: I dont like the focus on the orchid as it makes the stem seem to intrusive |

My eye keeps seaching for a focal point. Since the orchid is so out of focus, I naturally settle on the darker stem -- very distracting -- not zen. If only part of the flower was sharp, the beautiful shapes, textures, and soft colors would feel more peaceful to me. |

Soft focus would work but I think it's too strong in this case. |

Powdery purple haze envelops the white cloud of orchid, what could be more serene and still? I really like your take on this image. I love the soft focus and I think it works very well here. It immediately gave me a calming effect. The color choices were spot on, the purple contrasts nicely with the yellowy-orange in the flower but they are both so pale that it isn't an overwhelming display of contrasts. I like the off-center composition and I think the one thing I'd prefer more is to have an even greater sense of negative space, perhaps having the stem more aligned diagonally with the upper left-hand corner and then having a large expanse of the soft purple background. That said some detail of the flower would be lost if it wasn't as close up so its a toss-up. Very well done. I gave a 7 and favorite. |

I really like this, this photo is very soft and you can tell that it was done on purpose. |

IMHO the focus is a little too much on the soft side. It does have a real "dreamy" feel to it. |

A very nice, soft, quiet, simple photo. Definately meets the challenge. I think I'd like it more in focus, but I can see what your intention is. |
