Hi Shez,
I think that Sammie has a point about the frond in the front appearing to block your eye from the image...the tones and the composition are interesting; keep testing those creative waters with your camera, as Ansel Adams used to say, "When I look at a fine photograph, sometimes I can hear music."...well, when I look at your agave images I hear Bach and Chopin... |

| Hi Sherpet.. I wanted to tell you that your plant photos are beautiful. I do think that repetition plays a part in how things score, but not as much as you think with this one in particular. There's a lot of pattern and rhythm in this photo, which don't really gel with the zen no-mind. If the composition seemed less orderly and a little more random, it might have done better. It doesn't make it any less beautiful, just perhaps not quite the right fit for this particular challenge, which was a challenging and frustrating one in which to participate and vote since everyone has such different concepts of what zen means and all of them correct. Don't stop taking photos, k? |

Dear Sherpet,
Please don't be too disappointed in your score - I always feel if one of my pictures ends up anywhere around the middle that I've done quite, quite well.
I thought this picture might be yours while voting on the challenge, I recognize and like your style! However, this picture just doesn't say "Zen" to me - the palm frond in the front of the picture is almost like a hand over your face preventing you from seeing what is behind. To me, that palm frond in the front just really made it seem like something that was blocking my vision and preventing me from seeing - which is very UNzen.
I hope so much that you won't feel disappointed and stop taking pictures around your house and garden for challenges - lots and lots of people on DPC get known for taking certain types of pictures; bearmusic and his marshes, Zoomdak and his Canon Beach, Me and my dunes!!
Photography brings you such pleasure, I hope you don't give it up till it is actually a physical impossibility for you. Please don't feel upset or disappointed today about your picture or reading the threads.

| Way underrated. I think this was the color choice to go with. The other versions are nice as well but the greens just feel better. You should have scored and placed much higher. |

| rediculously underrated. maybe if you had rotated it 90 or 45 degrees ccw it would have stood out a bit more. 8 from me. |
