Pretty but it could be more clearly focused.

Either those plants are fuzzy, or your out of focus. The colors are also a bit dull for my taste, but I won't rate you down for that.
I give it a 6.

Not sure about the focus and clarity but a god composition

Hard to get these fluffy flowers into focus.... but they do need to be sharper. The rock ledge (?) in the top right corner needs to be eliminated or included more to be part of the subject.

I like the texture and composition of your photo, but the fact that the right side of the bush is out of focus doesn't help the quality of it. Also, I notice that the file size of your entry is only 92k. There are significant sharpness problems caused by over compressing. Try to use the whole 150k we are allowed to use and you will see a difference in sharpness, especially in the fine detail like the flowers.

Soft focus. It could be your subject, but no, I blew it up, focus appears to be behind your subject. Nice example of texture. 6 Swash

The angle you have framed this with gives it some interest that it normally wouldn't have. It seems a little flat to me. Maybe some saturation, or contrasting, if possible would help. karamt

needs to be closer or at least crop out whatever that is in the upper right corner

For those that are just learning, like me.

Composition: Scoring in this area is based on basic composition of a picture and includes the rule of thirds, balance, cropping, and curved and diagonal lines. Subject matter that does not lend itself to the picture or otherwise unwanted is also considered here.

Originality: Scoring in this area is based on pictures or concepts that I have seen, as well as how much effort you have invested in the picture. Usually a little something that sets it aside from a snapshot. Does it make me want to come back for another look? You know things like that.

Technical Aspects: Focus, exposure, lighting, and other special effects (done by the camera), and post processing are all considered in this category.

Meets Challenge: This is based on my interpretation of if you, have/have not, met the challenge. This is fairly simple but quite important for this site.

There are many sites that can give you assistance in achieving better skills in photography, but I think the best way to learn is to take pictures and show them to other people. Believe me when it is a good one you will know it.

Good luck!

your title implies that you may have chosen this soft focus deliberately. did you? for me, personally, it doesn't work. i would like to see more of the plants in focus. maybe (depending on what is to the right) to even take a shot further to the right so the plants in the left don't poke into the shot in the LL corner) and more of the leachen (sp?) texture in the UR corner to contrast the softness. just my 2cents. -- gr8photos (3)

tighter focus would be good, and the log or branch in the top right corner and the flower in the bottom left are distracting tangent, but the overall idea is good

interesting texture... i don't particularly care for the downward view though... it also looks like some parts of the subject did not remain in focus.. = 5 - jmsetzler

This is lovely and has great texture. The composition is quite good, but I think that the out of focus foreground takes a bit away from an otherwise excellent photo.

not focused

you lost too much detail to see texture. nice colors
07/22/2002 02:57:00 PM
overexposed and a bit blurry. otherwise it'd be a nice pic
07/22/2002 10:22:00 AM
It doesn't appear to be in focus
07/22/2002 09:11:00 AM
the picture is a little busy - maybe if you cropped it, or took it from a different angle.
07/22/2002 07:35:00 AM
good idea

Focus needs work and it seems a bit too light.
