A lot of comments about the black and white or DNMC
This photo absolutely meets the challenge "take a COLOR photo of a Black and white subject."
There it is!

I think the photo would have met the challenge better if you were much closer to the flag. ???????

IMO, this photo dnmc. I believe the intention of the challenge was to take a b&w photo in color mode. This is why desaturation was discouraged. I don't think the challenge was to shoot a color photo with b&W in it. It may be a suttle difference in interpretation.

hmmm. I see black and white (the flag) but your title implies that isn't your main subject, leaving me a bit confused... Still a great image though, and I won't be marking down your score for that bit.

There is a black and white flag/pole in the shot, but it is certainly not the subject. This is a beautiful photo, but it is pretty far away from the point of the challenge.

I'm bumping the score up on this photo because it's a well done photo. Very well done. I see two things wrong with it: 1) your title suggests that your subject is actually the mountains. 2) your subject is so small compared to the rest of the photo that you almost miss it. 6 based heavily on technical quality.

Meets the challenge (0-2) 1 - Struggling with the black and white portion of this, but I'll give you 50% of the DNMC marks anyway
Interesting Subject (0-2) 2
Technical wizardry (0-2) 1
Artistic merit (0-2) 1
Do I want it on my wall (0-2) 0

Total 5

Beautiful scenic photograph but I'm trying to figure out what is black and white about this image.

I love the picture.. but I don't feel it for this challenge. Now a closer look on that flag might have been nice.

Man it's beautiful, but IMHO there's just not enough B&W to meet the challenge, sorry.

I don't really see much black and white...

Not enough of the black and white checkered flag. As a well composed image, you did a wonderful job here. It is a bit grainy in the sky, which detracts from the overall smoothness. Maybe a lower iso.

Ummm. Which part is black and white? The mountains are brown, green, and yellow.

did you mean for this to be in color on color?... it is beautiful

- the flag is dwarfed in comparison to it's surrounding and easy to overlook its black and white colors.
