 Visited Hogle Zoo in SLC, in about 96 degree heat and found two zebras trying to keep cool in the shade. One zebra was drinking from the waterhole and got many nice shots but the background wasn't fitting for this challenge. I don't know how my entry will be received as there is color in it, interpreting this challenge is one of the toughest to date. Oh well, I like this intimate shot. BTW- it's my first entry with my 55-200mm lens (great for the animals, not so great in the Butterfly House).

Too bad you couldn't get the depth of field a little narrower. That fence is a little distracting. Still a 6, though.

I believe the intention of the challenge was to take a b&w photo in color mode. This is why desaturation was discouraged. To make it more challenging. I don't think the challenge was to shoot a color photo with b&W in it. It may be a suttle difference in interpretation.

If there was ever a good challenge for a zebra, this is it. Looks great. I love all of the little hairs around the mouth.

I think this would have met the challenge better if you'd have cropped much tighter on the zebra to eliminate a lot more (or all) of the background.
