Oooh, the best of the chess shots in this challenge. Lovely DOF and nice colored background. 10

Brilliant depth of field, very well set up.

Personally I love these technical shots. Well done too!

cool use of shallow DOF. Maybe the closest white pawn is a little too much OOF.

Excellent...

Love them layers .... I feel the blur has been overdone on this. I great idea but not a great execution - would have worked better with normal DoF where the black pawn would immediately steal the eye.

Excellent shot and idea.....the focus on black pawn looks awesome..9

Great use of DOF to get across your point. The title's almost an afterthought because the picture communicates so well.

This pic makes me want to learn chess!

Great control of the DOF.

great DOF.

The white is too blurry for me, would have liked the two adjacent white pawns to the black one to be more in focus. Overall I like it though.

interesting focusing!

Too bad you didn't shoot this against a black background. It would have been near perfect then IMHO. I really liked the DOF, lighting, and strong contrast between the pawns shown in this photo.

This idea has great potential, but I'm afraid the blurring of the white pieces is waaaay over-done. A shame, 'cos it's nicely composed and framed, and the blue background works well.
