 Man... I look at this after I spent the time setting it up and think to myself "what the heck was I thinking???"

Anyway... here's the "fruits" of my labor.

Really not much other than a crop, rotate 4 degrees, and a slight sharpen. Didn't have to alter the color any (maybe lightened it just a tad), was actually pleased the way it was.

Couple folks asked how the flame was setup. That's actually just a small little cap of lighter fluid placed in the middle of the orange. Took forever to get the flame to go that high, but it didn't really burn the orange surprisingly enough.

Concept wise, this is probably my fave from the challenge.

Certainly merits a fave overall.

A little nitpick would be the low saturation and contrast. I would prefer to see the orange a bit more like the natural color of an orange of that type. Likewise, I would like to see a bit more of that shadowing. I wonder if it might be possible to emphasize the shadow/light from the flame light and bring up the sat just a hair on the orange itself.

This is really cool. I've never seen a flaming orange before. I also like how the lighht from the fire shines through on the bottom of the image, almost like a star. It would've been cool to see that contrast a little more but the image stills stands up great. 9.

I like your use of multiple similar colors in this image... it would be really neat to see an alternate version with the background black, I think it could really pop like that. 8

The first thing i said when I saw this (and it was actually out loud) was "Ohhh, how cool!"
Very impresive creativity.

Like the shot, but it suffers from the lighting. Subject needs to jump out from the background more. A noble attempt. 5.
