Here is the Original photograph before I cropped it. I was trying to follow the rule of thirds, by cropping the image so that the dragonfly was positioned at the intersection of the upper left quadran. Also so that the lilly was not the primary focus of this composition. Thank you for all of your wonderful and constructive comments!

A nice enough shot, however, really a shot of a lily that happens to have a dragonfly on it rather than a shot of a dragonfly, at least in my opinion. Qualitywise, the focus is good, the background is blurry, but still within the context with the lily-pads and the colors are nice. I wonder if it would've been possible not to crop the flower to the right ... since it's just a bit it looks accidental even if it may not have been accidental. |

Very nice. You should have either zoomed in more on the dragonfly or cropped it so only half the lilly is there. That would be about 2 inches removed from the right. This would also make the fly bigger. Nice work I really like the colors in this shot.

This is a decent photograph, but since the subject of the photo is supposed to be the insect, and the lily is dominant, I can't give it a good rating. Crop it so the dragonfly is the subject, and it would have been much better for this challenge. |

Great composition and use of the flower to give personality to the insect. |

I'm impressed with your obvious dedication and patience, not to mention phographic eye. I've never seen a baby dragonfly, not to mention one so iridescent and surrounded by such vivid colors and amazing contrasts. Keep up the good work. |

the lily really overwhelms the dragonfly...especially as its beautiful blue green washes out against the acid green of the lily pad |

Wow! what a wonderful combination of colors. Totally gorgeous. Though the colors seem to be the main appeal of the photo, the dragon fly really adds a nice touch. Good luck. Jacko. 9 |

One of my favourites, great combination of colours and composition. The dragonfly is a little small for the frame, but the result is still pleasing. Nice dof. 9 |

I like the colors in this photo, and the depth of field. I just wish you focused more on the dragonfly...maybe zoomed in more or used a macro (though you might not have one on your camera). You have a nice eye for photography! |
