I went out with my cam to photography my new neighborhood and watched some footballers practice. I pulled out the cam and I sat on the outside of the fence near some brush. This little guy zoomed my face and landed 2 feet from me. Turn, macro, zoom, focus, fire.

Obviously played a lot with saturation/sharpness, etc. I like it. Hope you do.

David - I actually centered this guy because of the triangle of lines. I thought by putting the lines on the thirds it would show up better as part of the picture. *shrug* :)

I think the centering hurt this score - but only because we're taught at DPC "never center, never center." I think there are times to break the rule and I definitely did it on purpose. Maybe it wasn't effective.

@Stdavidson - I used NeatImage with a sharpening to achieve the non-pixelated background - plus I didn't overzoom and I always shoot on iso 100.

What stunning wings! And the lines you've used really work for me here. Lighting seems just a tad bright, but nice photo. Have you tried placing this insect in one of the thirds? It might indicate its environment more, which would echo your use of line.

Good attempt at humor with the title. It photo is clear, but the composition might be better if the insect wasn't centered, perhaps more to the lower right to enhance the idea of falling off.

Super smooth soft background. No pixelation here.
