Whoa, JJ mon ami - this must be the best photo ever to get last place :-) Love the fact that you got a few 10's though - there is hope here yet.

I am so impressed that you got last place with such a neat picture. I must say, not everyone can do that! Congratulations. But I'm joking. It's a lovely picture, and I thought it was a good entry to the insects challenge, it shows imagination!

I can not believe you got last on this! How funny. Sometimes I purposely try to get last place. For the record...I gave this very high marks. Its an excellent photo and a wonderful perspective...very clever. I didnt think of it myself...you impressed me on that one!

I have to make the assumption that he is some kind of biologist, but it does nothing for me really since there is nothing obviously relevant to his trade in the shot. Even as a portrait this doesn't tell me much. The composition is too centralised and the context of the shot too busy.

This has nothing to do with its title.

I'm sure you are getting several doesnt meet the challenge comments. That said, the subject doesn't hold my attention long enough. The foreground seems a little too congested and I'm not sure where my eye is supposed to be focussing. A nice choice going with the Sepia in my opinion though

I understand the point you were making, but in my opinion this photo does not meet the challenge, without the title you would not know what the photo is suppose to be saying.

I think just showing the engraved wood would have fit the title better.

Am I missing something?

I am sorry, I do not understand your image. Would you explain it to me, I might give you better score.

Nice picture overall. I like the tone and clarity. The "outside the box" thinking may be stretching it a bit.

Ahh OK!

In my opinion, this doesn't meet the challenge "get up close and personal". I don't see any insects here, even though I think I can see that's the secret part, they are disguising themselves as humans. You obviously disagree, otherwise you wouldn't have submitted it.

As for the photo itself, you have a nice tonality range going here, the focus and lighting is good, technically a well-rounded shot. There's a lot going on in the shot, too much in my opinion, I don't know if there was something you could've changed though, candids don't usually leave you time for it, you have to seize the moment, and you sure did here.

Original. Is the 'termite' eating the wood? Clever and good in sepia
