I'm going to comment on this as a sports photo... because I think that's how I can give the most helpful comments. As a panning shot this isn't bad. your subject is pretty clear and your background is mostly blurry... so in that respect you've achieved the first step. Here are some areas that you might be able to fix or might help you get more dynamic photos... 1) Lower your shutter speed - I can't see your specs so I don't know what your speed was here... but I think you can still lower it. 2) was the ground actually sloping? AKA straighten your horizon line... I would say probably that the horizon line to go with here would be the back top fence... but I wasn't there so I can't be sure... 3) try to find the place to set up that has the least possible background noise... this might not be possible all the time but keep it in mind. 4) with sports (unless it is ballet dancing or something that is supposed to look petite) get down and shoot up if possible... this will make your subject look bigger and more imposing, something that is desireable in the world of sports... this may also help you to alleviate noisy backgrounds...
Hope this helps! Good luck... - 6 - |

Nice action shot.
Would have like to have seen a crisper focus on the bike, but overall well captured. |
