 I had this idea as soon as the Gold challenge was announced, so I went out and bought gold spray paint, black velvet cloth, and a spritzer bottle (I've missed having those anyway). I had the yellow pepper left over from the Food Abstract challenge (and I should have used a pepper shot instead of what I entered, but that's another story...). ;-)

Set up was pretty simple. Draped the black cloth underneath and behind. Spritzed the pepper with water and placed it where I could light it from all sides. Set up camera & tripod for long exposure. Turned out the lights and activated the shutter via remote. I used two small flashlights (one white & one red) to "light" the pepper.

PP was actually not too much, but included: levels/curves, burn brush to clean up a few spots, Neat Image, add border, save for Web.

Super nice image! You got ripped off! This image is BY FAR better than many that topped it in the voting. Should have been a ribbon.

Very nice Jimmy! I like the water on the subject - nice for the effect. Composition is great. Lighting is very well done - the balance of shadow and highlight is perfect. Angle of placement really adds to the appearance. Well done!

What?? no ribbon?? 36?? DPC has lost it... hmmm, I gave this ten and looks like others had this one pegged for blue as well, still a very sweet shot

I think the water droplets may have been slightly excessive ...

nice to see someone approach this from a simple point of view. Clean image, my eyes were drawn to the subject. Perhaps just a touch too much water for my taste but that doesn't affect anything. Nice lighting to keep the interest on the subject. This is one of the stronger images for me.

Works great on black background...not sure how to other people but that waterdrops doesnt look like water but like damage to the surface of pepper. Maybe only few bigger drops would work better like at bottom.

This is so classic, yet unexpected. I like that hind of pink that the light hitting the pepper, creates. Quite artful. Love the water. Great use of neg. space.

the ONLY thing i dont like is that the water droplets on the left hand side are a bit powdered. This is awesome!
