 I spotted this aggressive little chap this afternoon (right at the last moment to offer him in the Insect challenge). I think the victim is a wasp, this illustrates how spiders can overcome insects equal to or larger than themselves. Pity I missed the action!

This is a crop and with some USM applied and though the lighting is flat (the sun kept coming and going) in this instance I believe it helps the subject stand out.

In macro mode at f2.8 the DOF is so narrow that not all of the subject is in the sharpest of focus - still coming to grips with what can be done with the FinePix F700.

Depth of field is a little shallow so that the mummified insect is OOF but good shot of the spider. I'm sure you're gonna be tired of the it's not an insect comments so maybe this'll help - 7 (I woulda liked a slightly different angle to show more of the spider's face

Nice catch (for you and the spider :-) Not a lot to criticise here - focus and exposure is good. Compostion isn't exciting but it does the job. Good one.
