A lock of hair from me wee sis who died on Christmas Eve at the age of 7. I found this just two weeks past... and took a shot of it tonight. Gold enough for me.

Awwwww. ...how sad! 7 years old!!! I'm so sorry. I know that's something you never get over.

Nice shot but I think the setup would of been better with a solid color bottom and background. Still a good shot

Will wait for the explanation on this

She died when I was 19. She was my mom. Great emotion. Yes I cried. :) It is always good to remember and this picture and keepsake are both wonderful for that.

This must be an emotional connection for you, and I appreciate your sharing it with us here. I think, though, that there might have been other ways to more strongly connect the viewer with that emotion.

First, the narrow DOF winds up drawing my eye to the very sharp texture in the cloth instead of onto the hair.

Second, the hair's placement doesn't emotionally grab me. As opposed to it being placed at the edge of a picture of her (sister? mother?). Or on a stand in the foreground, with someone in the background (blurred out), looking out a window. There are a million ideas like that, but those are some examples.

What a feeling this shot gives me. It wouldn't have as much impact without the title though. Good luck :)

that's kind of morbid and sad

This is an interesting image - the title begs emotion and it's tough to look at the image the same after reading it. The lighting is interesting but I think I'd like more "gold" ... - I think the textured background is a hint distracting.
Sorry for the loss.
