This is an "Abstract" image of a sliced salami with 200 Watts light behind it.

The holes on the salami gave me a good white and yellow affect to call this image "Sun or Sliced". I can only assume that "Abstract" means somewhat recognizable, not totally unrecognizable... But the reason I want critique for this image, there are no shiny corners, DOF areas or anything like that you would see on another photo, so is that why am I getting, or got, low scoring.

Did I disgust some people thinking this is a boiling blood?

Anyway, I knew I would not get more than 3.5 for this image, now I am ready to be hammered by the critique club...

:P

* Greetings from the Critique Club *

Hi Leo! Wow. This photo didn't seem to appeal to the voters at all. I think it may of been a little too abstract perhaps?

One thing I noticed about the winning photos in this challenge was that you could still make out what the photos were of whereas in your entry it's really difficult to even suggest what it may be. I'm trying to say this in a way that doesn't sound too mean but there's not a lot that appeals in this photo.

It's really hard to say whether the focus is right or not because of the subject but if I was to say anything it would be that the top of the photo seems more in focus than the lower half. The texture is interesting and works well in that regard. The blown highlight where the light is shining through I don't find adds any excitement.

All up, I think you gathered it was a photo that wasn't going to score too well maybe? Obviously voters didn't find it appealing and that's where it fell down. I think looking through your portfolio it's fair for me to say that it's not one of your better photos but we learn from these experiences. Keep at it and best of luck in future challenges!

Abstract indeed. Refreshing to come across an image like this that meets the challenge so well.

Sorry, a little abstract for me

this definitely falls within abstract, but it lacks a focus point - or overall appeal. All I get from this is the sense of a red blob

Abstract as I perceive abstract? Yes
Do I like it? This one does not appeal to me personally, but abstracts appeal to different people very differently.
Technicals? The very dark spot is what draws my attention first - then the gold section. The swirling pattern kind of keeps you in the picture.
