 "...together through ages of the world we have have fought the long defeat."

The quote comes from Tolkien though Galadriel. I thought it fitting as the iron has stood against the wrath of the sea for 100 years in October, but it's defeat is inevitable. Kudos if you like Tolkien enough to recognize the title's homage to the quote.

Taken three minutes before sunset at the Peter Iredale wreck. I wanted quite a different shot from my last foray at this wonderful place. Instead of shooting at dawn, I shot at sunset.

The beach was quite busy and I got lucky here to keep people out of the shot. I had a number of shots I like ruined by people. I don't like people in my seascapes as the pictures tend to be a personal connection between the sea and myself.

I used a grad ND filter as well as a polarizer and possibly a ND8 filter (can't remember if it was on for this one).

Terrific shot. Don't know what people are looking for, but for my taste, less plastic, more texture and perhaps a little less saturation/contrast...

I can see that the 'total' silhouette effect is deliberate. YOu would probably have to be very clever to light the skeleton for texture while not losing that effect. Just a thought.

Hey, my picture's good too, and I didn't get anywhere near 33rd :)

That sky is as smooth as it gets, but for some reason that makes me want to see the wreckage even more crisp. Great job on the exposure, those colors are amazing. Very nice!

Great colours and clarity. I might have included more of the shipwreck and shore and less of the sky, not sure all the negative space is helping.
