I thought I'd assemble the different food groups for a late night snack. After I made the sandwich it just looked to colorful and I decided to take the picture. Only minor adjustments were made to contrast and sharpness.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

This photo is making me hungry! LOL :) This is a late night snack? I'm coming to visit at your house! :)

A nice shot but that's it, a nice shot. As you can see from some of the other shots the idea was to offer a more abstract feel or setting to the shot. This, with the proper PS treatment would make a wonderful ad for a turkey (is it turkey) sandwich.

THe light is a bit harsh on the top and the shadows to the right are very distracting. Maybe the use of a reflector of fill light to balance it out?

This could have been more abstract to me, (but trust me when I say I'm the last person to ask about abstract art) is if you had arranged the celery and cherrie and did a more macro shot of them. Maybe with the bread in part of it?

I really like your shell shot in your profile, you've got a good eye overall.

I hope my comments help and Good Luck in future Challenges!

I see what you were going for I think but it doesn't seem obvious enough or dramatic at all. Try fewer elements next time to get the point across.

Not exactly an abstract, but I suspect you've been told that already.

The idea of the challenge was to use food to create an ABSTRACT image. There is nothing abstract about this. Had you used a macro or zoom lens and shot in real close it may have worked.

Very much like modern art. Simplistic. I might have added some color enhancement, but perhaps that would have taken away from the reality of this picture. Well done... though it probably won't score well on DPC. It lacks the "Wow Factor" that is needed for high scoring photos. The simplicity may be taken for lack of creativity or laziness. Not my personal opinion, but...

The shot looks very appetizing, but unfortunately it doesn't look very abstract.

Abstract? Good photo of food but doesn't meet the challenge in my opinion 2

I can see the concept of balance between the celery, tomatoes(?), and carrots. I think the sandwich takes away from that theme.

abstract: Having an intellectual and affective artistic content that depends solely on intrinsic form rather than on narrative content or pictorial representation

it's not really abstract now is it?

Not very abstract.
