 I was lucky enough to catch some birds hatching in our birdhouse this afternoon and thought it would make an interesting shot for progress.

Shot in manual at 50mm with a 430EX and a Lightsphere.

They're really ugly at this point, aren't they? Square crop works well; nice detail.

It's a shame that the chick isn't looking up, it does kinda look like a squidgy mess as it is, took me a while to even figure out what the shapes were.. Other than that though, new life is progress and it's a neat pic.

Awww, look at their adorable...spinal cords...and veins...

In seriousness I do like this photo because it really meets the challenge in a very clear cut way- Progress. In this case, progress of life. The lighting is a bit harsh and the lens was clearly limiting, but I do like this photo and wish you good luck.
