Challenge: Fireworks (Advanced Editing IV) Camera: Canon PowerShot S2 IS Location: Victoria, BC Date: Jul 4, 2006 Aperture: 2.7 ISO: 100 Shutter: 1/100 Date Uploaded: Jul 4, 2006

A sparkler in my back yard, since my fireworks shots were done a few days ago. Lucky we had some of these left over from the 1st! :)
Shot with macro, and all editing would fit in basic, except cloning out one wee "blobby" spark. Crop, noiseware, rather heavy sharpening, curves, resize, save for web.
(note; camera time says July 3, 23:something, but that's the timezone difference)
I shot this while it was still a 24hr challenge... figured it would necessarily be a very small field, giving me a chance to hit the top 50. I shoulda pulled it when they changed it to 48hr, but oh well, didn't damage my average :) |

I like this a lot!
First, because you actually made something. I mean, the other bazillion entries really found good ways to capture something other people created, but you had an original idea.
Second, because I think it's an attractive shot. Some of those sparks on the left look like little bugs flying away. |

For what it's work...I gave you a 6. I knew it was an outsider and I felt the effort you went to was warranted. |

the shapes of the sparks and that good sharpness make this quite interesting. |

it's too much of a mess and it's cut off other than that it's a good idea and normally because of how dark it is it usually is over exposed in the center from long exposers your's isn't |
