Today I would have gone to this site with Kiwiness and Nastya, but because of the bad weather forecast we postponed the meeting. 70% rain they said, 2 cubic cm of it!
And what happens? Nothing! No rain, no meeting. Well, there was rain in the morning and there was a hard cold wind with some minor splatters in it. Enter swearword: HERE!!!!
Okay, back to the photo. This is the Ringvaart van de Heerhugowaard. At Rustenburg there are three fairly unknown windmills in a row. I thought they would be a nice repetition subject. Drive the other way and you'll find three other ones, often photographed by Jaap Hart (see photo.net). But you need to be there at the right time of day.
I used the full 210mm zoom of the 602 to compress the scene a bit. For the naked eye they are further apart. I would have liked to use 357mm with the teleconverter, but couldn't frame right.
Edits: Curves, more curves, channel mixing and a bit of curves. Cropped, unsharp mask. Outside dpc I'd like to dodge and burn at several areas as well as clone the powerline behind the third mill away.
Got two versions of this one, one with the boats in it and one with a much tighter crop. The latter looked so empty and just didn't feel right.
Better luck next time Gary! ;)

Hey Az I had a feeling this was your shot, what a pity our meeting didn't work out. Now I see what we missed. Next time it'll work out for sure. |

such a beautiful country - my two visits were such pleasure. Could you think about cropping this to emphasize the blade of the windmills? |

Good idea, and I nearly had something like this too :-) Anyway you got double repetition here. But I can't give you double the votes, sorry. Did you wait for those windmills to be lined up like that? - 8. |
