OK, I have this lens and can NEVER get this sharpness OR close-up! Can you/WILL YOU, tell me the trick to the 100mm 2.8???!!!!!! Tripod? Why did you use a lower ISO? Was it later in the day or shady or...?

Thanks for your kind comments everyone.
Unlike some dragonflies that seem very jumpy and dont let you come close and fly away from just a hint of movement this one didn't. It did fly away if I wasn't too careful but then landed back on the same branch in a few minutes. I had no luck in coming this close to the smaller green dragonflies in the area. |

That is some amazing macro detail. You can even count the whiskers on his chin! Very crisp and colorful! |
