 I know this has been done before... but this is the first time I've ever shot macro, and the first time I've ever spent this much time setting up a shot, so I thought I'd better enter it.

Ah, very, very pretty! Nice composition, and I love the circle formed by the tips.

I wonder what it would look like against a white or black background with the contrast increased?

Generally, I'm quite tired of seeing shots of couloured pencils in challenges. But this one stands out. Lovely bokeh in the background. -1 for cliche. 8

I like the background blur. It really draws the eyes to the pencil points. Nice colors.

What I like: haha, composition and color! Big surprise there, right?

What might improve it: Might have got a higher score with a solid background, but I sort of like the one it has now. Something doesn't seem quite right with the focus and I can't put my finger on it.

Neat idea, well executed. I like the off-centre composition. The background is just a little distracting - I would have desaturated the yellow channel a little (I think that's allowed with basic editing) to make it less intrusive. That might mean replacing the yellow pencil with one of a different colour, though...

Pencils, arrange in a designer way, add bokeh, and bingo.... Probably not as easy as one might suspect. A nice, if cliched effect. 7.
