Well, I think the subject is probably what limited you. It looks like you did a very straightforward presentation of what you wanted to present. That's not bad, but it also doesn't give us any "wow". The B&W conversion could have been done a bit better I bet. Look for tutorials (I think we have some here) on B&W conversion techniques. There is so much more that you could do than Mode>Grayscale.

One thing going for the shot is the focus is tack sharp on the coin. That was nicely done and sharpness is very important on this site.

Wow factor: 1 for putting a very simplistic yet punchy picture together in a square frame.
Personal tilt: 2/3

What I like: The punch of the coin in the image is pleasant. I like the braclet on the wrist. The B&W works well. Square frame/composition looks great.

What I didn't like: I'm being picky, but the title is really long with a ton of small words in it.

I like the centered composition here. I think the border is a tad too thick, but it's not like I would take points off for it ;) Good job and I hope you do well.

Unfortunately I don't think this photo get's across your idea very well. I see someone holding a coin showing us the tail side. I don't see a coin laying with the tail side up or someone picking up a coin with a tailside up. The hand is not even holding the coin (with the fingers) as if they had just picked it up. The technical aspects of the shot are fine, just getting the idea across seems to be lacking.

Technically speaking it's a good picture, my one nitpick being the bit of leg (?) in the corner, and it does definitely fit the challenge but it's just very static and, if viewed beyond the narrow boundaries of a challenge, rather boring, IMO. Not putting it down, just giving one reason why it may not get a top score :)

Top right corner is out of place. Image could have been sharper on the whole.

The coin looks good, but the hand is a bit offputting. I think this is because of the angle it is taken from - it makes the fingers look stumpy

Somehow it's spooky, although I feel the effect is unintentional.

I see where you were going with this, but from a skeptic's view, I can't tell which way it was on the ground, only which way it's on our hand. Without the title I don't think it would have stood on it's own.

The coin is a bit too much OOF. 6

the lightings a bit harsh and there are some distracting white spots on the black on the right side. i had to clean my monitor to make sure it was the photo and not me. but being basic i know you can't spot edit. Its still a nice photo overall. i like the border.

Top right corner...why! But the rest is really good

I really like the square frame of the shot, but think I would have liked it even more if the coin (the main subject of the photo) was off-center, like along one of the "thirds". You maybe could have acheived such an effect by shooting this from a lower angle and closer in so you're not looking top-down onto the hand and could therefore use the angles of the fingers to "pull" you into the main area of interest. Excellent idea though and I love that you presented this in black & white. :)

I think it would have worked better if someone was picking up the coin enstead of just showing it... Because guess you could have titled this 'Tales you Lose' just as easy.

I still won't do that. ROFL I'm superstitious.

I'd like to see this less centered, with more neg. space to one side.
