What I liked: Very well taken exposure. Nice shell

What I didn't like: Seems a bit blue, getting more in focus may have been beneficial.

I like the blue tone on this, reminds me of the ocean. I also like the DOF you've used. The lighing is a bit bright in some areas, so watch out for that. All in all, I think this is a good image that stands out in the challenge. Good work.

I have a lot of trouble seeing how this meets the challenge. While nearly everyone has heard of "hearing the ocean" in a sea shell, that certainly doesn't make it any kind of superstition and I don't think that makes it an "urban" (as in city) legend. Still, not a bad studio shot of a shell, I suppose.

This has a nice focus to it, but I think it could have been a bit more interesting with a more loose composition (not so tightly cropped) or make use of the rule of thirds maybe. A natural beach setting and some nice warm light would really make this great, but I understand not many people have access to a beaches.

it's a shame you don't have more focus to the shell

The lightning is a little bit harsh and the focus isn't too sharp.

I like that this is an original idea and that no one else attempted this one. :) My only possible gripe with this shot is that I personally feel a slightly deeper DOF should have been used to bring the whole shell into sharp focus.

Out of focus?

Great idea

Nice idea, but I think you could have done it better. I don't think the black background complements the shell very well - it would be nicer on a beach in sunshine for example. The shell looks a little anaemic somehow - could you have boosted the colour a bit? There are also a couple of distracting bright pixels (bottom left and right under the shell). Final point - I think it would look better with a little "negative space" to the left of the shell - it would focus the eye on the most attractive part of the shell and add some impact to the picture.

simple and nice picture. Maybe would have required a better setting. 6

overall this is quite nice. i think the reflection actually takes away from it. The composition, DOF and even the border all work for me though.

Doesn't sell the idea to me. Just a image of a shell. Don't care for the blue lighting, or the highlight burns.

Nice composition. Lighting could be a little better IMHO.

Good composition, but seems a little overexposed do to short distance to the flash.
