Shot at horse competition. This was a beautiful horse and I tried to capture its strength while still bluring the motion.

Hello from the critique club...

Hi Doug, This is a really nice shot and meets the challenge very well. There were a lot of panning shots in this challenge but this stands out well. You have shown excellent techniques to keep the heads in focus and there is just enough movement in the horses legs.

The colors are complimentary and the composition is spot on. If I can make any suggestions for improvement it would be that the fence although blurred is s slight distraction and that the highlights (saddle and rail) have been slightly blown out.

Overall an excellent photo that deserved to score higher, but I'm guessing that the voters might have been looking for photos other than pans (?)

I have looked through your portfolio and gongratulate you on some excellent photos.

Great color.

Technically, a good shot. The bulk of the subject is crisp, while the background and the horse's legs have just the right amount of blur to give a good sense of motion.

It's a shame the lighting is a little flat. And if there'd been a little more "happening" (such as, say, an approaching jump), it could have been excellent.

Very nice movement and the subject facing into the image works well.

nice job on this shot. I like how the rider and horse appear in this composition. the blur actually sets them apart nicely from the background. The colors only seem a bit flat to me otherwise.

Nice job freezing both heads against the speeding backdrop.

Very nice action photo. Great color and composition. Don't know much about horses but I bet this guy is top of the line.

I like this. Nicely composed and the green tones are very soothing against the palamino coloring of the horse. Her black jacket and boots show up well. 7
