I think if the gem was more in focus and I could see more of its detail, this would be an awesome shot.

very very shallow DoF. but that's a thing I like ;) too bad the diamond isn't tack sharp, I think in jewellery-photography that's one thing you need. maybe use a smaller aperture to get your DoF a bit larger and make the sharpness better.

except for the scratch? lol at least you addressed it in the title. the scratch really does take away from this photo. fantastic border though. it helps tons.

The composition is pretty good and I like your idea. I think the DOF may be a wee bit too shallow because the prong on the top left looks the most in focus and the glass looks a bit out of focus. It would be nicer if your glass had a little better focus. Also the lighting seems little bit harsh.
