Challenge: Bokeh II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Olympus C-740UZ
Location: Manila
Date: Jun 14, 2006
Aperture: f5.6
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/4 sec

This was shot inside and during a band's gig in a local
bar here in the Philippines. I was holding my camera with a 55-200 zoom lens. Since no flash photography is allowed, and i have no tripod, I tried to get this shot without moving a muscle. Fortunately, the blur had an effect that is quite endearing and he looked like a painting on canvass.

I love the very artistic treatment of this. It looks so much like a painting. Very nice. As to the bokeh, I think it might be lacking a bit. Doesn't matter, I am giving it a 7 anyway, though if it was portraiture, I would give it at least an 8. Can't wait to see the technique on this one.

I like this...very artistic.

Too small, and nothing is in focus.

A very small picture of a man, with the title 'man' entered in a challenge called 'bokeh'. Blurred foreground and blurred background, yes. I think the most 'bokeh'/'broken' or blurred/indistinct thing about this challenge is the idea of what we're supposed to be looking for. I actually like blurred pictures like this one, but I won't give it more than 4 for now...

Going for the brownie?

This doesn't seem to meet the challenge of a focused foreground and a blurry background

Interesting use of dof, but I am not sure it qualifies as Bokeh?

I'm not too big a fan of redish tints like this, but at least it adds an emotion, so I'm bumping up on that, giving you an 6 to help bump your score too, because I think people will vote this a bit harsh for not meeting the challenge.. But it's still a cool shot, so 6 it is!

I don't see anything in focus.

DNMC?

How does this meet the challenge?

Very much an impressionism style portrait, not to sure about the "Bokeh".

The point of bokeh is to have either the forground or the background out of focus not the whole immage. It is a good image but not for this challenge. 3
