 My first submission. Almost no editing. I used artificial lighting to light the subject against the out-of-focus natural city lights. Slightly cropped and reduced brightness.

10 points for the South African wine... But perhaps the composition could have been improved. The wine bottle and glass could have been grouped tighter, and arranged off center (lower right maybe). That way they would be emphasised more, giving more weight to the photo, and at the same time, there would have been space for the bokeh on those background lights to come through more strongly.

interesting composition. since it is so dark, the background lights being blurred don't interest me as much as they might if I could see more of what the wine glass is standing on.

A wider aperture would have made the lights in the background bigger and have had more of an impact in your shot.

would be better if the lighting was such that the bottle and glass were clearly defined and didnt blend to the background anywhere

Beautiful ... meets challenge ... can almost see yourself in the reflection in glass and bottle. Nice reflection combined with the dark background.
