 This wasn't easy.

I was in a hot air balloon, flying over the Drakensberg when this fella flew past.

He made a couple of swoops and sweeps but I just couldn't seem to get his attention.

After fifty or so shots, it turned out it was a loud wolf whistle that eventually made him turn and look straight at me. As my eye locked with his through the viewfinder there was a defining bonding moment between man and beast... and then, as the shutter clicked, it was recorded as I had witnessed it....

Okay i'm lying. He was in a rehabilitation centre, sitting very placidly on the ground with some kangaroos and other animals minding his own business. I could've shot this with my 50mm because he was so tame.

:P

Almost straight from camera, slight sharpen, crop and resize.

Had 6 other options so this is one of those worrisome "did I make the right choice" submissions.

nice finish. and if you had shot it with your 50mm, you would have had nothing but a blurred background. at least the lens you used helped create something close to the true definition of bokeh (circles of light).

That is a very subtle bokeh, impressionistic of a bokeh. The bird's eyes make it. Reminds me of the famaous British book by Barry Hines, A Kestrel for a Knave about a poor boy who raises a kestrel. 8.

Nice composition, Great image. But, in my opinion, the bokeh is not very interesting and does not add much to it.
