A synonym for desolate. I might have used this for Bokeh but no circles....rats! Pretty....will go against the grain but it is indeed alone. Should do not so good.

Post: In Nikon Picture Project: Auto Adjust Brightness (too bright knocked down by 50%), Open in PSElements3.0: Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. LOTS of noise so NeatImage. Power Retouche Sharpen. Cloned and healed some hot spots and a bit of spider web on the flower. Crop. Resize. Sharpen.

This is so beautiful. I didn't vote this one, but from reading the comments, I guess you got hammered for DNMC. I think it would have ribboned in Bokeh. I am adding to my faves.

Not a particular image I would imagine to portray Desolation but I really like this photo. Very nice green hues, DOF and composition.

I don't think this meets the challenge even though it's a nice photo.

A great shot, but really doesn't seem to fit the challenge, IMO. Sorry

This is an amazing picture and I REALLY like it...but come on...not exactly desolate....In the green challenge I would have given this a 7 or 8

Sorry, but I am not convinced of Desolation.

Excellent image, excellent color, excellent texture, great light, excellent dof/bokeh, great comp, have it available for a print

Absolutely beautful flower shot, but I can't see any desolace in it. Still, can't give a low score for this.

i love the blurred background and the position of your main subject,

A very beautiful image but I am hard pressed to consider it desolate/desolation. There is so much blur that I can't tell if it is alone. And honestly, flowers can not 'feel' lonely. At any rate, I love the images - the focus, the rendering, the DOF and the tones and hues I just think it doesn't quite fit the challenge well. 6

as the challenge description states the terms "mean to you" i can't really justifiably argue that to me, a pretty flower in front of a lush green background, doesn't really convey a great sense of desolation. so i won't. it's a very professional looking wall hangable shot though. the colours are beautiful, the level of noise reduction a bit on the heavy side, but overall effective. the level of detail on the intermediate ring of leaves is gorgeous, and notwithstanding my noise reduction comment, i do find the mix of elements in and out of focus very appealing. it's lovely, and gets an 8.

Hmmm...This is a lovely picture with amazing shallow DOF, composition, and color - but it doesn't speak desolation to me, sorry. I think it would have fit better if you had converted it to B/W. Lucky for you, I'm not voting ;)
